Vero Beach (Fla.) High running back Akeem Dixon has committed to Syracuse, a source tells Scout. Dixon is a three-star back who picked the Orange over Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, Louisville, Marshall and Purdue.
Syracuse was at Vero Beach's spring game Friday night, and Dixon was dominant, according to a source. Dixon was already high on SU's wish list anyway, but that performance only furthered their interest. He reportedly ran for 155 yards, had 42 more receiving and scored four total touchdowns.
Just a day later, Dixon pledged Orange.
Dixon brings a big, strong frame to the running back position. He is a pure power back who is gifted between the tackles and can move the pile when he lowers his shoulder. He runs with good balance and has good footwork as well. Dixon is a perfect fit for the Dino Babers offense, who covets power runners.
Scout will have much more on Dixon's commitment to Syracuse.
