Q & A with SU Recruit Dowayne Davis

CuseJuice.com had the opportunity to interview recent Syracuse University football commitment, Dowayne Davis, of Christopher Columbus High School, Bronx, NY.

Many recruiting experts regard Dowayne as a consensus top ten player in New York State and the top prospect in the NYC-PSAL this year. He is 6-foot-0, 195-pound safety/running back that has 38 tackles so far this season. As a running back he has ran for 595 yards on 89 carries and 5 touchdowns.

Dowayne, why did you decide to commit to Syracuse University to play football?

It's a school that I have always wanted to play at. I went to camp there this summer, did real well and they offered me a scholarship. What other schools were looking at you?

Connecticut, Duke, Colorado, Maryland, and Buffalo.

What position does the Syracuse University coaching staff want you to play?

Syracuse has had secondary problems the past couple of years, do you think you can come in and improve the secondary?

I think so, the Syracuse coaches said they need a big corner. They like that I am 6-foot.

What will be the hardest adjustment to playing big-time D1 football?

I think it will be hard at first because I have only been playing football for three years. I am learning more every day though.

When do you plan on visiting Syracuse officially?

I plan on going to Syracuse on December 6th for the Notre Dame game. Syracuse University starting cornerback Steve Gregory is from NYC-PSAL (Curtis), Can you continue the tradition of NYC-PSAL players doing well at Syracuse?

I hope so, I don't really think about that though. I will take it one day at a time when I am at Syracuse.
