Wright Moves

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Syracuse men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim has announced that Dayshawn Wright of Syracuse, N.Y., and Josh Wright, of Utica, N.Y., have signed national letters-of-intent to play for the Orangemen beginning next season.

"I feel we filled our needs in the backcourt with Josh, a very effective, fast-break lead guard who can score," said Boeheim. "In the frontcourt, we've added some real physical presence in Dashawn." "With the underclassmen we'll have returning I think we'll have a well-balanced team next year." Dayshawn Wright, a 6-7, 235, forward, is attending Oak Hill Academy (Va.) this year. Oak Hill is ranked first in the most recent USA Today High School Poll and started the season with a 4-0 record. Wright is aveaging 13.2 points and 7.3 rebounds an outing. Prior to his senior season, he was enrolled at Fowler High School in Syracuse. As a junior, he averaged approximately 22.0 points, 14.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks and 5.0 assists. Over the last three summers he played AAU basketball for the Albany City Rocks. He participated in the 2003 Five-Star Hoop Classic in Boston, Mass., and earned a spot on the all-tournament team.

Dayshawn Wright was ranked 90th in the class of 2004 by Prep Stars. His power forward rankings include 11th by Hoopmasters.com, 12th by Rivals.com and 20th by The Insiders Hoops.

Josh Wright is a 6-1 guard on the Proctor High School men's basketball team. He was an all-state selection as a junior and attended the prestigious ACD camp in Teaneck, N.J., this past summer. A season ago, Josh Wright averaged approximately 25.0 points, 8.0 assists and 3.0 steals per game. Proctor posted a 20-2 record. For the past three summers he played AAU basketball with the Long Island Panthers.

Josh Wright was ranked 21st overall by The Insiders Hoops. Among point guards in the recruiting class of 2004, Josh Wright was ranked 7th by Rivals.com, 9th by The Insiders Hoops, 12th by Hoopmasters.com.
