Rhode Island vs. Syracuse Preview

The Syracuse Orangemen look to shake off their opening defeat to Charlotte as they take to the court Sunday in the Carrier Dome against Rhode Island.

Syracuse (0-1) looked sluggish in the first half against Charlotte, trailing by 21 at intermission. Gerry McNamara scored 34 points and Hakim Warrick, Billy Edelin, and Josh Pace all scored in double-figures. But the Orangemen found little support from the bench. Jeremy McNeil was the only one to score off of the bench, as the rest of the bench finished with zero points in 20 minutes. The Orangemen's second-half comeback effort came up short, as they lost 96-92.

Meanwhile, Rhode Island (3-1) is coming off a Las Vegas Tournament title, beating Lousiana-Monroe and Miami along the way. They are led offensively by Dawan Robinson, who is averaging 15.5 points per game.

Syracuse leads the all-time series 5-1, with the Orangemen winning the last meeting in 1995. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
