True or false: Syracuse head coach Paul Pasqualoni will be fired at the conclusion of the season.
True: Pasqualoni has missed bowl games in three of the past four years. For a program that was once at the top of the Big East when Donovan McNabb was calling the shots, the Syracuse program has really taken a nosedive since he has left. Pasqualoni's has had questionable play calling the entire season and simply cannot be kept around much longer by athletics director Jake Crouthamel.
False: Pasqualoni has led Syracuse to bowl games in eight of his 12 seasons and has a winning percentage that hovers around .700. Furthermore, Pasqualoni has an excellent graduation rate, as 70 percent of his scholar athletes regularly graduate. In the ups and downs of college football, Syracuse is merely going through a cycle that many college teams experience. Remember, Virginia Tech found itself in the doldrums too, owners of a 2-8 record in 1992. Besides, is there anyone out there that can do a better job than Pasqualoni right now?
True or false: The Orangemen will return to the Final Four.
True: Hakim Warrick is ready to assume the position of being Syracuse's go-to guy and Gerry McNamara will take his game to the next level. With Billy Edelin and Josh Pace stepping into the starting lineup, and a recruiting class that Jim Boeheim's called perhaps the best he's ever had, the Orangemen are in line to make another run at the title.
False: Carmelo Anthony and Kueth Duany are two important pieces of the puzzle that Syracuse can't recover from in a single season. Anthony's ability to dominate every aspect of the game and his ability to make everyone around him better are two things the Orangemen will miss this season. You also can't count out Duany, who made a perfect leader for last year's group. When you're the national champion, everyone's gunning for you. The Orangemen simply don't have enough firepower to win again.
