Syracuse in hunt for Johnson

Garden City Community College Assistant Coach Bryan Hill says D.J. Johnson is one of the best junior college defensive tackles in the country.

"He is a first team Junior College All-American and we're lucky to have him, he is a great kid."

D.J. is a 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive tackle that originally committed to Syracuse out of high school. Coach Hill said this about Syracuse: "We just sent D.J.’s transcript to Syracuse and they're going to evaluate it to see if he can meet their academic requirements. They're optimistic he will."

Coach Hill also said that Syracuse is not the clear-cut leader anymore for him.

"Kansas and Kansas State are now very interested in him."

While at Garden City this season, D.J. had 37 tackles and one sack in 10 games.
