Six-foot-2, 206-pound linebacker/quarterback Jake Flaherty was one of SU's first verbal commitments to Syracuse. Flaherty verbaled to Syracuse in July. Pasqualoni recently had dinner with the recruit and his family.

"It was neat to have him here," Jake's mom said of Pasqualoni. "He just wanted to check in with Jake and make sure everything was o.k."

Flaherty earned his offer from Syracuse during an impressive summer camp performance. He ran a 4.54 in the 40-yard dash and vertical jumped 36 or 37 inches.

Flaherty received a lot of attention last spring. The three schools he was most interested in were Syracuse, Boston College and Virginia. He attended all three camps. Syracuse offered him on his second day of the camp.

At 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, South Kingstown, R.I. standout quarterback/linebacker Jake Flaherty picked up one of the three offers he was hoping for recently and decided to end the recruiting process early.

Flaherty, who has a 3.2 GPA and is a two-time state champion high jumper, plays a number of positions at the prep level.

"He plays all over," his father Todd who played for the Orange in 1969 said. "He plays quarterback, wide receiver, linebacker, or strong safety. Wherever the coaches want him to play, he will."

Todd shared some football stories of his playing days with the Orange with Pasqualoni.

The national letter of intent signing day is Feb. 4.
