Identify and evaluate. Those were head coach Paul Pasqualoni and his staff's goal when they set out to sign the latest recruiting class.

"We try to do the right thing in our evaluation," Pasqualoni said. "We believe that this group will fit in here well at Syracuse. We're happy with the group. We're happy to get it done and to move on." As of early this evening, twenty-eight high school football players have signed National Letters of Intent with the Syracuse Orangemen.

Included in the class are offensive linemen Ryan Durand, Corey Chavers, David Bouchard, Ryan Ehrie and Stephen Simms, running backs Curtis Brinkley, Paul Chiara and Kareem Jones, wide receivers Daniel Bailey, Quinton Brown, J.J. Bedle, Rice Moss and Diego Oquendo, fullback Tony Fiammetta, tight end Thomas Ferron, linebackers Jake Flaherty, Jamar Atkinson, Robert Jackson, Jonathan Pierre-Etienne and Donte Woodyard, cornerbacks Stacy Brown, Dowayne Davis and Jhamal Fluellen, safeties A.J. Brown, Courtney Green, Donta Herrod and Ben Maljovec, and defensive lineman/offensive lineman Nick Santiago.

"We evaluate speed, size, growth production and how important football is to them. We set out to see what their role is and how they will fit in. We think we did a good job with that."

"We have signed a large class, "Pasqualoni added. "We had a large senior class. We felt we had specific areas of need and went after that."

Offensive lineman, wide receivers and linebackers were three of those areas. Pasqualoni also said he would have liked to have signed another quarterback besides Joe Fields, who is currently participating in winter conditioning and attending class.

Check back here periodically throughout the evening on Pasqualoni's comments on his latest class.
