Cuse Visits Sunny Florida to Take on the 'Canes

The arv/#25 Syracuse Orangemen (15-5, 5-4) will take to warmer climates Saturday afternoon in a Valentine's Day matchup against the unranked Miami Hurricanes (13-11, 3-7). Tip-off is schedule for 2 p.m.

Syracuse will make the trip down south without sophomore guard Billy Edelin. Edelin did not practice Thursday, making him ineligible to travel with the team. He is still dealing with personal problems that have kept him out of three of the last four contests.

In Edelin's absence, Gerry McNamara will man the point and freshman Demetris Nichols will step into the starting lineup once again. In addition, junior guard Josh Pace will be looked upon to handle the ball more.

The Orangemen are coming off of a 63-61 win over Rutgers at home on Tuesday. But losers of four-out-of-five games before that, the Orangemen know they need to stay focused against Miami.

"They're playing well at home, so we know it'll be a dogfight coming at us again...," said Pace.

Miami comes into this game having already lost four games in overtime this season. Darius Rice (17 ppg) and Robert Hite (16.5 ppg) lead the Hurricanes.

As it stands now, Syracuse is in a tie for fifth place in the Big East, along with Villanova. Miami is second to last, ahead of only St. Johns (5-16, 0-10).
