Local RB Interested In ‘Cuse, Pitt

Central Square head football coach Bert Conklin thinks his player Irvan Brown was not given the recognition he deserved last year.

"I still can't believe Irvan didn't make All-State last year, he was the best RB in Central New York hands down. Syracuse and Pittsburgh have offered him so far, Penn State is getting close to offering also.

"Those are the main three schools right now."

Conklin also said Brown favors Pittsburgh right now because of an opportunity to play early and to go out of the area for college. Brown doesn't plan on making an early decision and wants to take all of his visits.

Brown is a 6-foot-0, 190-pound RB/DB that made First-Team All-Central New York this past season. He ran for 1,437 yards on 177 carries and 19 touchdowns in 2003. Brown is widely considered to be one of the top 15 players in New York State in 2005.
