Stenclik A Big Catch For Orange

Webster Schroeder Football Coach Al Bianchi always knew where his star linebacker Mike Stenclik would end up.

"Mike committed to Syracuse this past weekend at their Junior Day," Bianchi said. "He has liked Syracuse since they were the first to offer him in tenth grade. Coach Pasqualoni and his staff have been nothing but great to Mike and our kids. I am glad they got a great one in Mike. I just wish more of the top NYS kids like Mike would stay home and give Syracuse a chance because in reality it is the state school."

Bianchi went on to say that Stenclik chose Syracuse over offers from Pittsburgh, Boston College, and Connecticut. He also said that Penn State, Michigan State, Maryland, and Miami were on the verge of offering.

"Miami was really high on Mike, if they would of thought distance from home wouldn't matter in his college decision they would of offered. It really wouldn't have mattered though, Mike would have went to Syracuse regardless of whether Miami offered.

"Mike wants to play football at Syracuse and will not be changing his mind."

Look for Stenclik to make an immediate impact at Syracuse when he comes in 2005.

Stenclik is a 6-foot-1; 230-pound RB/LB that made Second Team All-State and First Team All-Greater Rochester in 2003. He was the 2003 All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year. As a running back, he ran for 1,042 yards and 17 touchdowns this past season. He also made 80 tackles and had five sacks as a LB. Stenclik is widely considered as being a consensus top five player in New York State in 2005.
