Syracuse, now 5-1 overall, is perfect at home this season with a 3-0 record.

Powell, who is ranked second in the nation in scoring offense this week with 5.00 points per game, surpassed Rob Kavovit on SU's all-time scoring list. Kavovit recorded 246 points from 1993-97. Powell now ranks eighth in career points with 249 and needs 39 more to break the school's scoring record held by his brothers, Casey and Ryan Powell. With four goals against Hobart, Powell moved into a tie for 14th on the school's all-time goals list with long-time friend and teammate Josh Coffman (118 career goals).

Powell scored a goal and had two assists in the first quarter to help SU jump out to a 7-1 lead. The Orange went ahead by as many as seven goals (8-1) when Sean Lindsay scored at the 11:10 mark of the second quarter, but Hobart came back. The Statesmen closed to within four goals (9-5) by halftime. Hobart's leading scorer, Mark Williamson, scored two goals during the second period mini-run.

Hobart cut the lead to 10-8 when Williamson netted his third goal of the game with 12:17 remaining in the third quarter. Powell and Jarett Park then scored goals to give Syracuse a 12-8 lead.

Williamson registered his team-high fourth goal just 1:53 into the fourth quarter to pull Hobart to within 12-9, but Syracuse tallied the next four goals to build a 16-9 advantage.

Hobart's Mike Conklin scored a man-up goal off a pass from Williamson with 5:39 remaining in the contest for the game's final goal.

Syracuse travels to Providence, R.I. to take on undefeated Brown (6-0), ranked No. 11 in this week's Geico/STX Coaches Poll. Face-off is set for 1 p.m. at Stevenson Field.
