Blatche Down To ‘Cuse And UNC

One of the Class of 2005's top big men Syracuse Henninger (Syracuse, NY) Center Andray Blatche has two schools that he is primarily interested in right now.

"It is pretty much down to North Carolina and Syracuse. Syracuse has already offered and I am just waiting to see what North Carolina is going to do."

Blatche went on to say that North Carolina is recruiting him very hard and reviewing his transcripts. He plans on unofficially visiting the UNC campus in two weeks when his SRAP AAU team plays in the Tournament of Champions on May 28-30.

When I asked Andray on what he thinks about Syracuse he said, "It would be close to home and my mom really wants me to go there so she could see me play. Coach Fine has been recruiting me and we are close. The Carrier Dome would be a great place to play. I can't really go wrong with either North Carolina or Syracuse."

When I asked Blatche if UNC were to offer him would he go there instead of Syracuse he responded by saying, "I don't know a offer from North Carolina would be hard to turn down."

Blatche doesn't plan on making a college decision until the fall.

Blatche is a 6-foot-11, 225-pound power forward/center that was named 1st team All-State and Central New York Player of the Year in 2004. He averaged 24 points, 17 rebounds, and 8 blocks this past season as he led Syracuse Henninger to a Section III title. Blatche is widely considered to be one of the top 20 prospects in the nation in the 2005 class. He was one of the top big men in the class of 2004, but will reclassify to the 2005 class because of academic reasons and will attend South Kent Prep School in Connecticut next season.
