Davis Still Lists 'Cuse

Theo Davis, a lanky 6-10, 215-pound C/PF from Bayside (NY) Benjamin Cardozo HS, is going to take his time making his decision. His list of prospective schools remains long - but it's one full of high-major programs.

"Eight to ten schools are right there," said Cardozo head coach Ron Naclerio, naming schools such as Texas, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall, Georgetown, St. John's, Pittsburgh, UCLA, Florida, and Miami (FL) as ones that have kept in close contact, and some of which have offered scholarships. It's hard to pin down what might even be a top five at this point. "It changes with him almost every day," said Naclerio.

Part of the indecision may be due to the fact that Davis, a Canadian native, is still trying to figure out what program would be the best for him. He had two favorites coming into his junior year, but things are still wide open.

"When he first got down here, somebody said to him that there are two schools that you have to go to, Texas and Syracuse," said Naclerio. "But they're all still there."

His coach thinks that location may eventually be a factor. "If I were a betting man, I'd say he will chose one that's close to New York," he said.

Whoever eventually lands Davis will get a player that's just starting to scratch the surface of his potential. He's been focusing in on AAU ball here in the States; he recently turned down a chance to compete with Canada's 22-and-under National Team.

"He didn't realize until he got here that basketball is 365 days a year down here," said Naclerio. "But if he comes to play every night, he can write his own ticket."
