Four Schools Still Targeting Blatche

Andray Blatche, an ultra-athletic 6-11, 225-pound Syracuse native who has the eyes of NBA scouts on him this spring and summer, stated he has been a little disappointed with his recruiting process lately.

"Really, it's been the same-old, same-old," said Blatche. "Right now it's Syracuse, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Texas."

Blatche - who has offers from all except for North Carolina - has already gotten the process of making official visits started. Blatche has taken a visit to West Virginia.

"It went great," Blatche said. "All of their coaching staff are really cool, as are all their players. I feel I can trust them a lot."

Hometown Syracuse remains an option.

"Syracuse is nice because I'd be right at home," said Blatche. "But in a way that can be bad too, because there are people here who will try to bring me down."

Blatche is high on North Carolina, but indicated the fact he had not seen the Tar Heels at many of his games this spring was a little disheartening. He noted immediate playing time as the main factor in his decision, and stated that he'd likely wait until spring to sign. But then there's also the NBA option after his prep year at South Kent.

"Only if I'm in the first round," he said.

At the moment, he's focusing in on AAU play with his SRAP squad. Their next tournament is tomorrow's Rumble in the Bronx. The New York prep site, will have complete coverage this weekend.

"We should do pretty well," said Blatche. "The last game we lost, we were lolly-gagging. That woke us up a lot. We'll come out and play harder."
