Thomas Has Four Major Offers

Lance Thomas, a thin, agile, 6-foot-8 small/combo forward from Scotch Plains Fanwood H.S. in Scotch Plains, N.J., told us that he has four high major offers.

"Arizona, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, and Connecticut have offered," Thomas said. "I am also interested in Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Syracuse, Maryland, and Florida."

Many of these schools were on hand this past weekend to watch Thomas compete at Jimmy Salmon's Playaz Ball held on the campus of Seton Hall University. Syracuse University did have a coaching staff member on hand to watch Thomas play on Friday afternoon.

Thomas helped New Heights advance to the playoffs. However, Thomas and his teammates ran into a brick wall on Saturday morning. New Heights was crushed in the quarterfinals by the Playaz Gold team.

Thomas said he plans on returning to his high school next season despite his close friend, Derrick Caracter, transferring to St. Patrick. "I will miss him," Thomas said. "But I have to do what I have to do. I am just focusing on the rest of the summer."

Caracter told the Insiders Report at the Reebok ABCD camp in Teaneck, New Jersey that he wants to play college basketball with Thomas. Lance said he would love to play college basketball with Caracter but he isn't guaranteeing it.

"I am open to anybody," Thomas said. "I just want to find a place where I am comfortable with the coaches."
