Syracuse gets verbal from Jones

Union Endicott (Endicott, NY) Athletic Director Al Brunetti says he pretty much knew where his star football player Arthur Jones was going attend college but today it become official.

"Arthur committed to Syracuse this morning. He just liked the way Coach Pasqualoni and Coach Walker treated him like family. They recruited him the hardest from day one and that really impressed him. It's also close to home and he is real close to his family so that was another big factor." Jones committed to Syracuse over offers from Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and Connecticut.

Ohio State was also showing strong interest in Jones according Mr. Brunetti. Now the next step for Jones according to Mr. Brunetti is getting him qualified to play for Syracuse in 2005. "Arthur did well in summer school and were going to do everything possible to make sure he will be eligible when he gets to Syracuse. I am confident that will happen."

Arthur will play defensive tackle at Syracuse. Getting a commitment from Arthur Jones is a major coup for the Orange. Coach Pasqualoni has pledged to do a better job in keeping New York's best football players home and so far has delivered. Syracuse already has commitments from three of New York State's top ten players.

Arthur Jones is a 6-foot-3, 270-pound defensive lineman that made first team all-state and first-team All-Binghamton Metro Area in 2003. He was the runner-up in the New York State Wrestling tournament at 275 pounds in 2004 after winning the state title at 275 in 2003. Jones is widely considered to be one of the top ten football players in New York State in 2005.
