Syracuse one of top schools for Kelly

Syracuse University is still being mentioned as one of the top schools for Curtis Kelly, an outstanding 2006 prospect from Rice High School in the Bronx, New York.

Curtis Kelly, 6-foot-8 and 215-pounds, has improved his overall game in the past year. And Syracuse continues to be a school Kelly mentions as a possibility for a college choice down the road."

"I would consider schools like Syracuse, Connecticut, and St. John's (from the area)," Kelly said. "There are a lot of things that go into making a decision. Right now it's early enough for me to take a look at a lot of schools."

Kelly has previously mentioned interest in Georgia Tech, South Florida, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Texas. "I am trying to improve my ballhandling and my jumper," Kelly said. "I think I made some improvement in those areas this summer."

Kelly, who mainly plays with the New York City Gauchos in summer AAU play, did compete at the Peach Jam event but did not play with the Gauchos at the Showcase in Orlando. "I am open," he said. "This is the time I am looking at the schools and not ready to make any decision just yet."

Curtis has not set up any unofficial visits but has expressed some interest in taking some basketball games at such places like Syracuse, Connecticut, and St. John's.
