Cincinnati at Syracuse Notebook

Here are some notes and quotes from Saturday's 19-7 Syracuse victory over Cincinnati:

Walter Reyes now stands 40 yards shy of James Mungro for third on the school's all-time rushing list...Steve Gregory missed Saturday's game because of a thigh injury. Coach Pasqauloni said he could have played, but they only wanted to play him if they absolutely needed him...Saturday's attendance in the Carrier Dome was 32,893.

"It was definitely a big step forward, as far as my confidence. Especially as a team, my offense line did a great job out there today. I didn't feel any pressure." - Quarterback Perry Patterson on his individual performance and the team's performance Saturday.

"Damien was wide open. At that point, if I'm the quarterback, I'm saying, 'let me just not miss this guy now.'" - Coach Pasqualoni jokingly speaking about Patterson's TD pass to Damien Rhodes.

"We showed him a couple of coverages that he may not have seen." - Coach P. talking about the defensive schemes thrown at Cincinnati quarterback Gino Guidugli, who threw for only 155 yards, and also threw three of the four interceptions caused by Syracuse.

"It's just a shame we didn't get seven (points) out of it. We got two...but, it was an awful big two points in the game, wasn't it?" - Pasqualoni talking about Anthony Smith's blocked punt that led to a safety.

"We didn't expect to come out and dominate. We knew they were a very good team, a very physical team coming into this game. So we didn't expect to dominate. But we came out and worked hard and felt good about what we were doing." - Linebacker Kelvin Smith talking about the defense's performance. Smith had seven tackles and an interception.
