Q & A With Collin Barber

Collin Barber, a second-team All Big East selection kicker, sits down with CuseJuice for a Q & A. Here's what he had to say.

Q: Is it difficult blocking out all of the distractions when you prepare for a field goal attempt?

A: "I don't try to think too much when I go out there. I know I can't control everything. If it's windy, I can't change that. If you start thinking, looking at the defense and listening to the crowd, you're bound to pick up your head and strike the ball bad.

"I'm a fifth-year senior so those kinds of mistakes shouldn't happen."

Q: What was going through your head during that missed snap at Purdue? Were you frustrated?

A: "I told myself that If I wasn't going to get a chance to kick, at least I was going to lay someone out. It turns out I was the one who got laid out."

Q: You are a Lou Groza award candidate, and are garnering the attention of pro scouts. Is it difficult not having more opportunities to go out on the field and show what you can do?

A: "I do wish I could do more to help this team. All I want is to go to a bowl game. I know the team's success can help earn individual recognition, but I'm not worried about that.

"A Big East title isn't that far out of reach, if we finally put everything together. We have an unbelievable opportunity here. I want to do everything I can to help us win."
