Orange land JUCO Cornerback

One knock on the recruiting practices of Paul Pasqualoni and his staff has been the lack of home grown talent on the roster. Apparently, someone is listening as the Orange have landed yet another native New Yorker to their class of 2005.

Morrisville (N.Y.) SUNY-Morrisville Community College cornerback Jason Tanner (6-1, 215, 4.5) has given his verbal pledge to attend Syracuse, According to Morrisville head coach Terry Dow.

"He committed about two weeks ago," said Dow "He only lives 30 minutes from Syracuse, so he's very familiar with the school. Once the Orange offered he was all over it.

Tanner earned JUCO All-American honors as a freshman after tallying 42 tackles, and 8 interceptions. Injuries set Tanner back this season as he registered 20 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 10 passes defended.

"He had a rough season as far as injuries go, he had a high ankle sprain, back spasms, and turf toe.

Tanner will take his official visit to Syracuse (12/3). Tanner becomes the eighth (N.Y.) native to give the Orange a verbal pledge this season, out of 14 commitments this season.
