Syracuse fired Paul Pasqualoni after the Orange was pummeled in the Champs Sports Bowl by Georgia Tech, 51-14, and hired Texas defensive coordinator Greg Robinson. Despite the uncertainty heading into next year, McPherson is confident that he will be an important part of Syracuse's future.
"When I heard about it, I was in shock," McPherson said. "I thought Coach P was gonna get one more year."
"At first, I was going to look around at some other schools, but someone always would tell me to go to Syracuse. Plus, with the new coach, I know that he's going to bring a new system, so we're all going to be on the same page."
Robinson will likely meet with McPherson in the next few weeks.
McPherson notched 80 tackles, six sacks and three interceptions this year for Bishop Mc Devitt High School, and said he would be interested in the safety spot for the Orange.
More on Lamar McPherson.
