McDermott deciding between hoops and football

First All State New Rochelle QB Geoff McDermott has to decide whether he wants to play football or basketball in college.

"I am not sure right now he has to make a decision whether he wants to play football or basketball in college," says New Rochelle Assistant Football Coach Ray Rhett. " I think he will end up playing football, the big time offers he has are for football."

McDermott has offer from Syracuse, Wisconsin, and Rutgers for football. Coach Rhett went on to say that he is visiting Wisconsin on January 28th. Is McDermott still interested in Syracuse?

"I think he was before the coaching change but now I am not so sure. He hasn't met any of the new coaching staff yet and needs to talk to them before he makes a decision."

McDermott is being recruited as Defensive End/Tight End at the Division 1 level.

Geoffrey McDermott is a 6-foot-6, 220-pound QB/DE that made second team All-State in 2004. McDermott has quarterbacked New Rochelle to the Class AA State Championship in 2003 and to the Class AA State finals in 2004.
