Williams commits to Rutgers; Can SU still get him?

Bruce Williams is on his way back from a trip to Rutgers, and the Syracuse (N.Y.) Christian Brothers wide receiver is headed back a committed man.

"I kinda made a verbal commitment to Rutgers," said the 5-foot-11, 190 pounder. "I knew I had to secure a spot for playing in college, I had just a few scholarships, so I committed to them."

But there is still a chance the Orange can land Williams. He plans on taking an official to syracuse this weekend.

"I have to got to see what goes on with the SU thing. With the new coaches, I'm not sure what's going on, but I didn't want to miss out on playing D1 ball. I go up there (Syracuse) this weekend, and we'll find out."

Bruce Williams is a 5-foot-11; 190-pound WR that made 1st team All-State and 1st team All-Central New York in 2004. Williams caught 103 passes for 1546 yards and 28 touchdowns this past season. As a defensive back, he had 67 tackles and 8 interceptions. Williams is widely recognized as one of the top 15 football players in New York State.
