Announces his decision Date

There have been rumors flying around message boards that said Syracuse may have landed another commitment. We decided to check them out and test their validity. A decision is close, but it's not a done deal yet.

Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph's Prep offensive lineman Jim McKenzie (6-4, 290, 5.2) told us there's no truth to the rumors but they have set a tentative date to announce his college choice. "I'm planning on announcing august 15th, it will be between Syracuse and West Virginia," McKenzie said. "I have to speak to coach brooks and my family and we'll make a decision. I visited both schools this week, just for a final run through."

McKenzie made the trek to Morgantown on Monday and Tuesday.

‘It was a great visit, they think pretty highly of me," McKenzie said. "I spoke with Coach Trickett for about 30 minutes. He has coached a lot of All-Americans. I spent most of the day walking around with Dan Mozes. That meant a lot to me that they would have a player like him show me around."

Friday and Saturday it was on to Syracuse.

"We drove up Friday and spent all day Saturday there," McKenzie said. "It was great. It was my second visit there. The new staff there is very energetic; you just get that feel with them. This will be the first real class for that staff, so it would be kind of neat to be a part of that. They're updating the weight room and all kinds of stuff up there."
