Reggie Gibson Names a Clear Leader

As recently as a month ago, it appeared as though Virginia Tech was on their way to landing Reggie Gibson. It looked as though the Orange of Syracuse would finish a close second. That's the fun part of recruiting -- you just never know what will happen.

Reggie Gibson, a 6-foot-2, 280 pound defensive tackle from DeMatha Catholic in Hyattsville, Md., once seemed poised to become a Virginia Tech Hokie. A month ago Gibson was high on Virginia Tech and Syracuse with the Hokies holding a slight edge. According to Gibson things have changed.

"I haven't talked to Virginia Tech in a while, they don't even return my calls anymore," Gibson said. "Coach White at Syracuse calls me once a week and I call him once a week."

Another reason why Gibson likes the Orange is that his DeMatha teammate Ryan Bartholomew recently committed there.

"He wants me to come with him, so that's probably what I will do."

Gibson attended the Syracuse-Buffalo game a few weeks ago and he came away impressed.

"I liked it a lot the team was pumped up and the coaches were pumped up. I got to talk to the coaches and I could tell they really wanted me there."

DeMatha Catholic is (6-1) on the season, their only loss came at the hands of the undefeated Gilman School. Gibson has two sacks so far.
