Sheeran A Badger No More

Barry Alvarez is departing from his post as the head man in charge of the Wisconsin Badgers program, and he has witnessed his first fallout on the recruiting scene. Dan Sheeran, who is a talented wide receiver from John Jay High in Cross River, N.Y., has rescinded his verbal commitment to the Badgers.

Dan Sheeran, who is a talented wide receiver form John Jay High in Cross River, N.Y., has decided to re-open his recruitment and will not be going to Wisconsin in the fall.

"With Coach Alvarez stepping down and with Coach Pollazzo not going to be there next year, I have decided not to go to Wisconsin," Sheeran said. "Coach Palermo was the one who recruited me and with him not being there I don't feel that is the place for me anymore."

Sheeran has offers from Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Central Florida, Miami of Ohio, and most recently Syracuse. "Syracuse just offered me last week. Coach Salgado had been in contact with me a lot the past month and came to my Section 1 semifinal game. Then Coach Robinson called me on phone last week and told me himself. He is a real good guy."

As of now Sheeran has official visits set up with Kentucky (Dec. 3rd), Vanderbilt (Dec 9th), and Central Florida (Jan 6th). Sheeran plans on taking all five of his visits before he makes a decision and is sending out tape to Penn State and Virginia Tech.

"Penn State was recruiting me very hard before I committed to Wisconsin so I would like to hear from them and Virginia Tech too. Right now though the five schools that offered are where I will visit and I am working on setting up visits to Syracuse and Miami of Ohio."

"I have no leaders at all right now, I really would like to play in the SEC but Syracuse has such a great tradition and I have a chance to play right away. I am going to take my time with the decision this time because I rushed it last time."

Dan Sheeran is a 6-foot-3, 200- pound wide receiver who earned All-County, and All Section honors as a junior in 2004. He caught 29 passes for 570 yards and eight touchdowns. Sheeran also ran for 418 yards and six touchdowns.
