Orange in Pursuit of JUCO Lineman

There's no secret Greg Robinson and his Syracuse staff are after offensive linemen and not just any offensive linemen. Robinson wants players who can come in and help right away. Last week the Orange added JUCO lineman Ian Hammond, and are now in pursuit of another touted JUCO big man.

Cory Actis, a 6-foot-5, 290 pound offensive linemen may be one of the hottest JUCO players in the country. Actis has already been on one official visit (Ole Miss 10/9) and has at least one more set in stone.

"Things have really been picking up in my recruitment. I am visiting Syracuse this weekend. Then I will probably take one to Florida State and Louisville. That is all I have right now, but I have been talking to California (offer), Washington State (offer), and Cincinnati (offer)," Actis explained.

"I already went to Ole Miss and it was a wonderful experience. It was one of the best things I had ever done. My host was Ryan Jones. We looked at all the facilities. We went to the game and then went out on the town. We just went out and some fun."

Actis and his Bakersfield Community College, of California, teammates were recently ousted in the playoffs, but he really feels that he has improved his game in the Coach Chuddy's system.

"I really feel that I have improved over the last couple of years. My last game was probably the worst game I played all year, but I still improved a whole lot from last year. I got bigger, stronger, and faster, and it really showed, I think."

There is no denying the fact that Ole Miss is currently in the driver seat in Actis's recruitment, but with the recent fervor, surrounding his recruitment schools like Syracuse and Florida State may be creeping up his list.

"Coach Robinson is the person that has been contacting me from Syracuse. So, that shows their interest in me. It is a good school with a good history. I think I could have the chance to go in there and make an impact with the team."

"At Florida State I talk to coach Steele. They have not offered me yet, but their history keeps me interested. Bobby Bowden is one of the best coaches in college football. That interests you I guess because of all the hype that FSU always has."

"I think Ole miss is still my favorite right now. Well I know they are still my favorite, but I have only taken one trip and been to one campus. So I am going to take these trips to compare and see what these other schools have to offer me," Actis explained of his mindset as he heads on towards his next few official visits.
