Jason Kates Discusses Syracuse Visit

Jason Kates paid Syracuse University a visit last weekend and came away with a positive impression of the school. Syracusefan.com catches up with Kates for the latest news.

Jason Kates surprised everyone when the Bishop McDevitt High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania football star visited Syracuse this past weekend. " I had a good visit there, I was really impressed by their facilities, and they were a lot better than I thought they would be. I also get along real well with the coaching staff. Coach Robinson and pretty much every coach on the Syracuse coaching staff have come to my school to see me. I would rate the visit about and 8 out of 10."

Originally it was thought that Kates would be visiting Maryland this weekend but Kates responded by saying that it was not true. " I don't know where people got that, because I never said that. Somebody on the Internet got that wrong. I am interested in Maryland but have not set up a visit and not sure if or when I will."

Kates has now visited Minnesota and Syracuse on official visits, so he has three more visits left if he wants to use them. I asked him if he plans on taking any more official visits and he responded by saying, "Yes I plan on taking all of my visits. I am not sure where they will be but I know they won't be until after the New Year. I am trying to figure that out in the next 2 weeks. Once I take my visits I will then make a decision."

While Kates didn't say much about the other schools he plans on visiting he did say he wants to go to a school where he can play early. "I want to go to a school where I can play immediately, I don't want to red shirt if I don't have to. Syracuse and Minnesota have told me I will have that opportunity."

Jason Kates is a 6-foot-3, 320-pound Defensive Tackle that made fifty tackles including six sacks during his junior season.
