Cantey Picks Cuse

Syracuse fans can relax for the time being -- Greg Robinson and his staff has landed one of New York's finest prospects. Message boards have been lit up like Christmas trees this season with fans questioning Robinson's ability to keep his state's best players home.

Parker Cantey a 6-foot-3, 215 pound linebacker recruit from South Shore HS, in Brookyln, N.Y. has issued a verbal commitment to attend Syracuse.

"I made my commitment to Syracuse last week," Cantey reported. "The coaching staff and the location were the deciding factors in my decision. It is not too close to home, but it is not too far away."

There has been speculation that Parker is also starting to grow into his frame.

"I am up around 215-220 pounds. It is all just basically from eating right now. After the break, I am going to get back in the weight room and turn it into muscle."

It came down to Rutgers and Syracuse for Cantey's verbal.

"I liked what I saw from Syracuse more than Rutgers. The Rutgers coaches were some kind of cocky because they were going to a bowl game that they eventually lost," Cantey said. "It was just a good atmosphere at Syracuse. I clicked with the coaches and the players. Even though they had a rough year, they stayed positive. The fans of the program are always behind them and were very supportive despite the fact that they had a rough season".
