Orange Offer Hometown Defensive Back recently caught up with Javon Miller, a 6-0, 185-pound safety from Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York and found out this athlete is doing more then playing football this summer.

"I haven't had time to get to any camps this summer, because I've been playing lacrosse in the Empire team competition," Miller said. "It's basically an all-star league for lacrosse in New York where teams from different regions compete against one another."

Despite not getting a chance to participate in any camps this summer, Javon still managed to pick up an offer from his hometown Orange.

"I received a written offer from Coach (Greg) Robinson recently. Syracuse is very close to home, so I get over to the campus a lot and check it out. The facilities are really nice. I talked to Greg Robinson, [Tim] Ross and [Chris] White while I was there."

Miller said that he really enjoyed all the coaches, but wasn't shy to point out he had a favorite. "Coach Cross was my favorite coach. He was great."

Miller rushed for 1,418 yards on 179 carries his junior year and added 28 touchdowns to the mix as well. As a safety, he was responsible for 73 tackles and picked off opposing quarterbacks 6 times. He is being recruited primarily as a safety.

Two teams seem to have jumped out to an early lead for miller.

"Ohio State and Michigan State are my favorites right now. I'm planning to go out and see them this fall if I get an offer from either one."

Miller plans to make a winter decision and prefers to stay close to the east coast. Academically, he scored a 1320 on his SAT and carries a 2.8 GPA.
