Al-Gaffar Lane Names a Leader

Al-Ghaffar Lane, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound defensive end from Paterson Catholic High in Paterson, N.J. is holding steady with offers from Cincinnati, Purdue, Rutgers, Duke and Syracuse. Has one school separated themselves from the pack?

The three-star prospect has been hearing from a few new schools, but there is a slight chance that he could commit before they get the chance to offer.

"Michigan State and Illinois have been in contact with me a lot recently," Lane explained. "Michigan State is a school that interests me because they have always been very solid defensively."

"Of the schools that have offered me I would say that Syracuse sticks out to me as my top school. My teammate from last year Ray Taylor had to go the prep school route and he is talking about playing at Syracuse. We formed a bond playing together and it would be nice to bring that to the college level."

"I would like to make a decision before the starts or after the season. I want a state championship and I told my coach that I would do all I can to help the team. I just want to concentrate on the championship."

As a junior Lane racked up 74 tackles, 14 sacks, and 16 tackles for a loss while earning All-County and All-League honors for his efforts.
