David Legree Commits to Syracuse

David Legree has been one of the most heavily-recruited prospects in the state of New York this year. The athletic quarterback from South Shore High School in Brooklyn held five offers. One school seemed to separate itself early from the others and it has paid off in a verbal commitment.

Syracuse has added yet another important piece to the 2007 recruiting class. The Orange needed to bring in at least two quarterbacks in this class and they have secured a verbal from one of the "Empire States" most heavily recruited gunslingers.

David Legree, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound quarterback from South Shore HS in Brooklyn, N.Y. has given a verbal commitment to sign with Syracuse on signing day.

"I just feel like it was the right fit for me," Legree explained. "I like the school and I have a good relationship with the coaching staff."

"Syracuse has signed one quarterback on the '06 class and has two senior quarterbacks, so it will be an open battle next year."

"I also like the fact that I will know some people up at the school (Like former high school teammate Parker Cantey). It will be a comfortable situation for me."

Legree chose Syracuse over schools like Duke, Purdue, Temple, Toledo, and Maryland.

He is the ninth commitment for Syracuse joining TE Nick Provo, DE Zary Stewart, RB Jamere Knox, QB Cody Catalina, LB Mike Mele, CB D'Amon Merkerson, S Max Suter, and S Ryan Gillum.

As a junior, Legree threw for 1483 yards and 15 touchdowns earning him All-Conference, All-NYC, and All-Borough honors.
