Orange, Hokies Wait Out Tribbey Recruitment

Despite published reports to the contrary, it appears that Syracuse does not currently hold a verbal commitment from Virginia lineman Bud Tribbey. While he has narrowed his choices to two schools, it appears that he is not quite ready to reach a decision.

Richmond, Va. defensive lineman Bud Tribbey's reported commitment to Syracuse after his visit to the Orange this past weekend has caused some confusion.

Whether he committed or not depends on what you read, but it is clear that he is not currently committed to either Syracuse or Virginia Tech.

Varina High School head coach Blanda Wolfe spoke to on Monday evening to clear up the situation.

"Bud visited Syracuse this past weekend with his teammate Jamar Jackson and they both really loved their visits -- but Bud did not commit to Syracuse this weekend," Wolfe said.

"I think that he had a quote that was misinterpreted. Bud and Jamar both loved their visit to Syracuse, and they came away very impressed, but they are both continuing in the recruiting process."

The 6-foot-1, 280-pound Tribbey is now expected to take a final trip to Virginia Tech before he makes his decision.

"I think he wants to take another look at Virginia Tech maybe this weekend before he makes his decision," Coach Wolfe said.

"He may even take some time after that visit to evaluate the two schools and make his decision."

Right now, it appears the Orange and the Hokies will have to wait at least another week to find out if they're the final destination for the talented lineman.
