Williams, SU's leading returning scorer was mired in controversy at the end of last year. He was reportedly involved in a bar fight at the beginning of May last year at Konrad's and then flunked out of school and was deemed ineligible to play.
Williams will have to sit out one season and pay for one year at Iona out of his own money before he can become a scholarship player according to NCAA eligibility rules.
Sometimes flashy and often times inconsistent, Williams becomes the fourth player in the past year to transfer schools, the most recent being point guard James Thues to Detroit.
The 6-3, 202-pound senior from Paterson N.J. averaged 15.9 points last season.
