LeGrande Talks Syracuse
Dominick LeGrande of Curtis High School is one of the best athletes in the state of New York, is so it's no surprise Syracuse has identified him as a much-desired recruit. Where does the Cuse currently stand with the 6-foot-2, 180-pound rising senior? Read on for details…
"They're on of my favorite picks," he said, "along with B.C. and UConn."
LeGrande visited SU back on Junior Day and loved the place, but has held off on committing and probably won't do so until sometime during the upcoming season. The aforementioned three, which seem to be the most likely destinations, are recruiting him as a defensive back, while Duke and Buffalo have offered him as a quarterback.
"It really doesn't matter. I'm an athlete," he said when asked if he had a preference for his position.
Last year LeGrande led his team to a 12-1 record and championship appearance, while throwing for more than 1,800 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also rushed for more than 600 yards and 11 touchdowns en route to All-State and All-City honors. He played mostly on offense, but will spend more time this season at defensive back, where he recorded four interceptions as a sophomore.
LeGrande is being recruited for SU by secondary coach Jim Salgado.
"He's a cool guy, a real good guy. He's a good, honest guy," LeGrande said.
While many other players are making the summer rounds to camps and on visits. LeGrande doesn't have any such trips planned. He'll wait until later in the summer to do an in-depth evaluation of his options. Oe advantage Syracuse has with him is his pre-existing relationship with several SU players and commits, including David Legree.
"I know some of their players, so that's a good look for me," he said.
While it may be a slight stretch to says he's SU's to lose, it's clear Syracuse will be in LeGrande's top three all the way and has en excellent shot at landing his commitment. Syracusefan.com and Scout.com will keep you updated…
