New Syracuse target?

SU is showing interest in another Milfred Prep kid. This time it's a former all time leading pass receiver from Maryland. Read on for the details.

When Vincent Hill of Friendly (Md.) High School failed to qualify academically and decided to enroll at Milford Academy in New York, it meant the all-time leading touchdown pass-catcher in Maryland history was back on the market. And Syracuse assistant coach Chris White, who always does a good job of scouting that area, was right on top of it.

"I saw coach Chris White at a developmental camp and he asked me what I was doing. He told me, ‘You know I can't talk to you until you enroll at Milford," said Hill, a 5-10, 175-pound playmaker who racked up 43 touchdown catches in his career at the Fort Washington, Md. power. "Now that I'm enrolled, I think I'll hear from him."

Hill switched back and forth between Akron and Virginia as a high school senior, eventually accepting an offer from UVA. But he needs to boost his grades at Milford, and it's unclear whether the Cavaliers will have a spot saved for him. SU, Illinois, Utah and Colorado are the main schools to have shown interest in him since he re-opened his recruitment.

"If Virginia offers again I might take that, but right now I'm wide open," he said.

So, what does Hill know about the Cuse?

"I really don't know too much about it. One of my coaches went there and said it's a good place. And some of my teammates at Milford are from that area and said yeah, it's a cool spot," he said.

Hill is looking for somewhere that offers him a chance to play early, in a program that throws the ball a lot, with a coach who will be a strong mentor.

"I'm looking for a coach who will stay on me strong and hard to stay on my grind and improve myself," he said.

He'll take some visits in the early to mid-season and then will make a commitment. He'd like to enroll somewhere for the spring semester. We'll keep you posted…
