Thump Uncensored Pt. 3

In the final part of this three part series, Thump talks about the Dome, first experiences with Syracuse, and anything else on his mind.

Major difference between high school and college?
The biggest difference is seeing so many big people that can run. Everyone is 6'2" in high school. Here, you see linemen that are 6-7, 6-8, and you're like, hold on, and they can run? That ain't fun. Being a linebacker your size or bigger and them trying to take your head off, that's a big difference. But like I said, football is football.

What is it like playing in the Dome?
The dome. The dome is hot. The dome is bad for your skin. I'm trying to think of the negatives. No wind. The positives? It's fast. People can't breath in there when they come. Including myself at times, make sure you put that. And the fans in there, they're definitely loud. I love that. I feed off that.

First experience on the field?
My first game here at Syracuse. I was in special teams the whole time. The first game I played was against central florida. Man! It was so fast. I played I practiced. But the speed of the game. They way they ran, I was like a puppy. I was lost out there. I didn't know what was going on. I just thank coach Walker for sticking with me and for getting me to where I'm comfortable with myself now. When I first played, I didn't know where I was going. I think I went the wrong way.

When did you feel like you were comfortable?
I think all season last year, I wasn't myself. I think I became myself last spring when I was able to get reps with the starting huddle. I started studying my film more and getting comfortable with my teammates. That's what really broke me in in the spring as far as learning the offense and the speed of the game.

What else?
I'm adjusted but there is still more I need to learn. The biggest thing for me is patients. I feel that I'm a good player and I will play. I've been playing and I think I've been doing well actually. I've just had to be patient. When it's my time, I just have to try to make a play.
