Is SU going to mine Milford Prep again?

Last year, Syracuse secured committments from 3 Milford Prep players. How many will there be this year? One player that is a possibility is star WR Vinny Hill. caught up with Hill today.

Having already gotten a stud at Milford Prep in DE/LB Romale Tucker, SU is still hoping to bring in others from the well known and well stocked prep school. Vince Hill is one of those players.

At 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, Vinny Hill is not an imposing physical specimen at wide receiver. What he is, though, is a playmaker – one with a 36-inch vertical, and who can throw down a windmill slam-dunk with ease. In high school, Hill set the Maryland state records for career touchdown receptions in a season (22) and career (43). He's continued to excel this fall at Milford Academy (N.Y.), and several major college programs, including Syracuse, have taken notice.

In five games, Hill has caught five touchdowns, drawing offers from SU, Illinois, Utah, Ole Miss and Temple. Virginia, the school he was once committed to, remains on the radar as well.

"I'm wide open, looking at everyone who has offered me," Hill said. "[SU assistant Chris White] talks to my coaches a lot. They stay in contact … We're trying to get something scheduled for a visit out there."

"I can't really make any decisions until I visit all of the schools that have offered me, so I'm just taking it one step at a time."

Hill had to clear up a knee injury and some academics, so he headed North to Milford after his prolific career at Friendly (Md.) High. So far, so good. He should be fine with the books, and he's in great shape physically.

"Vinny is a super-talented receiver. He's got the ability to go up in traffic and catch the ball. He's got a 35-inch vertical, which is unbelievable," said Milford offensive coordinator Roy Istvan.

Teammate Romale Tucker, who is committed to SU, has had nothing but good things to say to Hill about the school.

"He says it's a great school and a great program, and the coaches there are all cool and laid back," Hill said.

He said that, along with academic support, is exactly what he's looking for.

"Just the academic portion," Hill said, "and somewhere where I know that the coaches will stay on you hard but show you love when you're doing a good job." will keep you updated on the recruiting progress of Hill
