McNamara and Syracuse top Seton Hall

Carmelo Anthony doesn't have to carry the Orangemen with this surrounding group.

With Anthony in foul trouble, senior Kueth Duany and freshman Gerry McNamara stepped up, delivering a 70-66 win over Seton Hall, Wednesday.

McNamara and Duany scored Syracuse's (9-1, 1-0 Big East) final 23 points propelling the Orangemen to the win despite Anthony picking up with fourth foul with 7:59 to go and the Orange down by six.

McNamara finished with 17 while Duany chipped in 20 as Anthony could only muster 18 points, a season low, after scoring only two points in the second half.

Seton Hall (5-6, 0-2) freshman Kelly Whitney finished with a career-high 20 points and John Allen added 16. Both were infuriated by a non-call against Andre Sweet. In the final seconds, Sweet went up for a layup and was hammered by Hakim Warrick.

But none of the three officials blew their whistle as McNamara was fouled to close the game.
