No. 21 Syracuse beats Georgetown

Gerry McNamara and Carmelo Anthony scored 22 points each as the Orangemen defeated Georgetown, 88-80 on Monday night. Syracuse remained undefeated at the Carrier Dome and improved to 15-3 on the season, 6-2 in the Big East.

The Hoyas were led by Mike Sweetney's 32 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocks, but Sweetney could only watch as the Orangemen nailed 14 straight free throws in the final four minutes to seal the win.

GU's Gerald Riley and Tony Bethel each hit 3-pointers to give the Hoyas a 56-55 lead with 12:30 remaining. But Hakim Warrick scored eight points, including a pair of three-point plays in a 28-second period to give the Orangemen a 69-59 lead with 8:15.
