Syracuse rallies to top West Virginia

Carmelo Anthony scored a career-high 29 points and added 12 rebounds at No. 21 Syracuse defeated West Virginia, 94-80, on Saturday.

Billy Edelin also tallied a career-high 18 points, but it was the defense that sealed the game for the Orangemen, holding the Mountaineers to 37 percent in the second half.

SU (16-3, 7-2 Big East) trailed by as many as 15 in the opening half, but outscored West Virginia (12-8, 3-5) 48-22 in the second. Syracuse finished shooting 58 percent and cleaned the glass, outrebounding the Mountaineers, 43-31.

Drew Schifino led West Virginia with 25 points, but shot just 9-for-24. Kevin Pittsnogle added 24.
