Orange Lead for Kitchens

Homestead, Fla., native Darrin Kitchens was an extremely disruptive force as a senior, registering 19 sacks on the season. Right now the three schools he's most interested in are Syracuse, Florida and USF and on Friday night he told what order those schools are standing in.

Darrin Kitchens, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound outside linebacker from Homestead Senior High School recently took an official visit to Syracuse and talked about how great the experience was with us recently.

"My visit to Syracuse was great and I thought it was a good experience," Kitchens said. "I had my campus tour first and then we actually went and played some basketball in the Carrier Dome before the big game that night. Syracuse was beating their opponent like 58-12 at halftime, so that was tight."

"They showed us the apartments we'd be living in if I came there and they just had a ton of space and were really nice," Kitchens added. "They had some one-floor and two-floor apartments, so they have by far the best housing I've seen at any school so far."

We asked Kitchens what his relationship with the Syracuse coaching staff has been like so far.

"The best relationship I have is with the defensive coordinator and he always calls me up to see what I'm doing," Kitchens explained. "I also really like Coach Doug Marrone because he's a laid back guy that comes straight and always tells the truth. They see me fitting in at outside linebacker for them and they like my speed and the fact that I'm not afraid to come up and hit people. Coach Marrone just told me that they're very focused on recruiting quality players now and trying to build more of a family atmosphere at the school then there was before and I like that."

"I think my favorite thing about the visit was the snow because it was my first time seeing it before. Most people laugh at that, but it was the first time for me, so I was like a kid in candy store."

The Homestead, Fla., product talked about who his current top three are.

"If I had to choose a top three right now they would be Syracuse, Florida and then South Florida in that order," Kitchens offered. "I'm trying to make my decision before break is over with, but I'm not going to rush anything."

Kitchens had 75 tackles and 19 sacks as a senior.
