Harris Holds 'Cuse Offer

Syracuse was the first team to offer DeMatha Catholic High School safety Darien Harris after he camped at the school this summer and he had plenty of positive things to say about his time in New York.

Darien Harris, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound safety from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md., already holds a written offer from Syracuse and is also hearing from Maryland, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Purdue and Wisconsin.

"I have an offer from Syracuse and went to camp there last summer," Harris said. "They offered me shortly after camping there. I thought it was really nice up there. They showed me the Carrier Dome which was great, the weight room was top of the line and the coaching staff was just really fun to be around and energetic."

"I spent a lot of time working with Coach Conley the linebackers coach the most because they liked me a lot at that position, but I think it will end up being safety at the end of this year," Harris explained. "He was one of the best coaches I've ever met. He was really into what he did and had a lot of things to teach me while I was there which was great. I felt very comfortable up there and liked the campus a lot."

Harris played linebacker as a junior for DeMatha and registered 67 tackles, seven sacks and intercepted a pass which he returned for a touchdown. He will be playing safety as a senior.

His father Allen Harris was a safety at Virginia Tech from 1981 to 1985.
