Almasian Family Impressed talked to Anto Almasian on Sunday evening, a player who is very familiar with the Syracuse program. He just returned from a junior day visit that his parents tagged along for and it sounds like everyone who was along for the visit came away extremely impressed with the staff.

Anto Almasian, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound athlete from Massena High School in Massena, N.Y., could end up playing outside linebacker or tight end when he hits the collegiate level and while he's not naming any leaders, it sounds like Syracuse would be in a great position with the young man if they were to extend a written offer to him.

"I went to Syracuse for junior day and it went really well," Almasian said. "I got to meet with all of the coaches one-on-one and I spent a lot of time with Coach (Nate) Hackett. Coach Hackett is my recruiter and we have a solid relationship built already. He's told me that they like me at both outside linebacker and tight end at this point and I'm fine with playing either position."

"I also got to meet some other coaches while I was up there like Head Coach Doug Marrone, Coach (Bob) Casullo and Coach (Dan) Conley," Almasian added. "The entire coaching staff is just very straight forward with me and I just get the feeling that there isn't a lot of nonsense going around at Syracuse like there might be at other junior days. Some people just tell you what you want to hear and they don't do that up there. They told me that they like the fact that I'm only 16 years old and have really good size already that could allow me to end up wherever they want to play me in the future. I know they like moving guys around positionally and I'm completely comfortable with that."

"Coach Marrone talked a lot about preparing his players to be great on the football field and also to be good men, so my parents loved to hear that coming from him and you can just tell something is in the air at Syracuse and they're going in the right direction. We actually got to talk to him a bit at dinner and I can tell you that the impression left was really, really good."

"I was also really happy to get to see and talk to Coach (William) Hicks who works with the players on their strength training as I've been camping at Syracuse for seven or eight years and know him pretty well at this point," Almasian explained. "On top of having a great day up there, we got to go see the Orange play in front of a record crowd at the Carrier Dome against Villanova and they were going crazy as they beat Villanova. It was just awesome to see ‘Cuse get a big win there."

Almasian will visit Boston College, Duke, Rutgers, Tulane, North Carolina State, Buffalo, Brown and Princeton over the spring and summer months.

As a junior, Almasian registered 31 solo tackles, three sacks, forced two fumbles and had one fumble recovery. On offense, he had 13 catches for 183 yards. He was named first-team All-Conference and second-team All-State for Class A.

He boasts a 4.22 short shuttle, 33-inch vertical leap and a 305-pound max bench press. Almasian also carries a 3.4 GPA.
