Shoe Talks 'Cuse

Oradell, N.J., product Shutang "Shoe" Mungwa picked up an offer from the Orange last week and he caught up with on Thursday night to talk about what he already knows about the program as he will be camping their soon.

Shutang Mungwa, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound strong safety from Bergen Catholic High School has a Syracuse offer in hand and while the coaching staff hasn't contacted him yet, he's excited to get to camp and learn more.

"I picked up my offer from Syracuse about a week back," Mungwa said. "It's funny because I went to the junior day a few days before that, so I didn't get to talk to the coaches a lot, but I got to know that they really knew how to coach and also saw the weight training program which was just really impressive. You could just see that they had a strong pedigree of coaches up there and I was impressed with that."

"A couple days after I got home I got a letter in the mail offering me and I was surprised and really happy about it because I have always dreamed of picking up a scholarship offer and to get one from such a good school in Syracuse just made it that much better," Mungwa explained. "I still haven't talked to the coaching staff yet, but I have emailed them and am looking forward to getting up there for camp which I'll be attending."

"I know Syracuse has a great tradition with guys like Jim Brown and Ernie Davis who paved the way for African-American players in the NFL and also have had great players in the NFL since then like Rob Moore, Donovan McNabb, Marvin Harrison, Keith Bulluck and several others. I also have been told that they are strong academically, so I'm going to look into that even further once I get the chance to get on campus and meet with the coaches and some academic advisors which is something I'm looking forward to as well."

Other schools recruiting Mungwa are Rutgers, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Temple and Illinois.
