Looking to Learn

Raysean Richardson will be visiting Syracuse this upcoming weekend so that he can learn more about the football program after receiving his first written scholarship offer from the school in March.

Raysean Richardson may only measure in at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds, but with his physical style of play most programs are recruiting him to play outside linebacker and the Orange joined the field in March when they became the first school to offer him.

"The conversations I've had with the staff at Syracuse so far have been with Coach Rob Moore," Richardson said. "I thanked him for the scholarship and I've been trying to book a trip to get up there so I can visit the campus. He just told me it was a really good school and that they really liked me at outside linebacker. He said they like my tackling ability a lot."

"Coach Moore was cool with me and was a down to earth guy, so that was good," Richardson added. "Most of what I know right now about Syracuse is really that they're a basketball school, so I'm a bit behind on them obviously. I'm actually supposed to go up there this Sunday or Monday, so at that point I'll be able to learn a lot more about the program and have more to say about them."

For Syracuse fans that may be a bit down that Richardson knows nothing about the school or referred to the Orange as a "basketball school", I wouldn't take offense. Many Tidewater area players are essentially brought up on Virginia Tech, Virginia and either ACC or SEC Football and don't get much exposure outside of that. Richardson was excited to get up to Syracuse this weekend and learn about the program and school.
