Son and Mom Impressed spoke to Paul Gaughan after he returned home from his unofficial visit to Syracuse this weekend to find out how the Dunmore, Pa., product felt about his visit and it sounds like the Syracuse staff did a great job impressing both he and his mother while they were on campus.

Paul Gaughan, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound offensive tackle from Dunmore High School is currently holding seven written scholarship offers with one of them coming from the Orange, so this weekend his mom drove him up to Syracuse to check out the scene on campus.

"I went up to Syracuse for a visit this weekend and got back on Saturday," Gaughan said. "I liked it up there a lot. I got to talk to the director of their sports medicine program and we went over the majors I would want to go into and what classes I would need to take. He went over what that would entail and answered all of the questions I had about my education at Syracuse, so I came away really comfortable with the academic side of things there."

"I also met with Head Coach Doug Marrone privately who had my mother come in as well and we talked about the program and more academics then football really," Gaughan added. "He spent a lot of time assuring my mother and me that the players were always in touch with the players and coaches and that I would be taken care of if I were to come to their school. My mom was really happy because she's a teacher and she liked to hear that the teachers were very involved with the athletes at Syracuse. I just think he's really going to turn that program around in a hurry and that they're going to have a really good team up there in the near future."

"We went over and watched practice together which was like a 90-play scrimmage and after that we left to go back home," Gaughan explained. "I was just really impressed with the practice and it was awesome that I got to sit down and talk to Coach Marrone one on one. Also, I was really impressed and happy that all of the coaches there knew who I was at Syracuse. I felt like I fit in with the coaches up there and Syracuse is definitely a place I'm considering taking another trip to in the near future."

Gaughan also has offers from Kent State, Maryland, Buffalo, Maryland, Northwestern and Stanford.
