Hemingway Puzzled

Syracuse offered Peach State offensive lineman Xavier Hemingway a scholarship offer after his junior football season and he was very excited about the opportunity, but he told SyracuseFan.com that the Orange haven't been contacting him at all lately.

Xavier Hemingway, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound offensive tackle from McEachern High School holds 10 written scholarship offers with one of them coming from the Orange, however right now it doesn't sound like the recruit and program are on the same page.

"I've talked to Syracuse once or twice on the phone after they offered which was after my football season, but I haven't gotten a phone call from them since then," Hemingway stated. "I do get an occasional email from them. They invited me up for camp this summer, but since they haven't really called me and because it's so far on top of that, I'm not going to go up. I just don't know if they like me anymore."

"I was 100-percent sure I was going to take an official visit to Syracuse before, but they haven't called and I may get more offers, so now it's probably around 70 or 80 percent," Hemingway explained. "When I got the offer I was really excited because I was hearing great things about the school and football program down here. They have a great stadium in the Carrier Dome and I've heard that the campus is great. They've also had some excellent players come out of there like Donovan McNabb and Dwight Freeney, so you know they produce talent."

"Right now I'm just going to play wait and see with them. I'll just wait to hear as it's been months since I got an email from them."

Hemingway recently picked up two additional offers from Maryland and Middle Tennessee.
