Huskies stop Orangemen

Freshman Rashad Anderson scored 21 points as the Huskies topped the Orangemen, 80-67 to advance to the finals of the Big East tournament.

Connecticut (21-8) will play No. 5 Pittsburgh in a rematch of last year's title game. Follow freshman Marcus White chipped in nine points and 14 boards off the bench.

Syracuse was awful from the field through most of the game, hitting just 23-for-80 overall (28 percent). Carmelo Anthony led Syracuse with 29 points and 15 rebounds, but even the star freshman had his shooting woes, connecting on just 9-for-28.

The Orangemen fell to 24-5, and had their eight game winning streak snapped. Hakim Warrick scored 14 points and chipped in 14 rebounds while Jeremy McNeil tied a tournment record, finishing with eight blocks.
